Mary and Donald - Thank you!!

jennifer - It feels like such a Sunday thing to do, simmering sauce all day, doesn't it? You can find my basic recipe here (which is basically Marcella Hazan's beef and pork variation).

Blake - We had some additional incentive to pick up AofE this month because our friend Derrick has an article in the issue (and his lovely wife Melissa has photos in it as well). But we always enjoy reading it, and we keep talking about subscribing, so I think we should just go ahead and do it! It really is great reading.

Glad to see your copy of The Art of Eating peeking out in the corner. I asked for a subscription for Christmas on the grounds of this statement alone, in a Salon.com article:

"If Bon Appétit is the food media's Newsweek and Saveur is the Economist, then the Art of Eating is the New York Review of Books: sometimes impenetrable, often spellbinding, and never, ever reductive."

My first issue arrive last week and I'm currently savoring it, bit by bit.

Quel coincidence? On Sunday, I also made bolognese sauce, which simmered all day. I love Sundays that give me a chunk of time to tinker in the kitchen. I wasn't wild about my bolognese recipe, though, and was wondering if you have one you like. At least from your photo, your sauce looks much more appetizing than mine did (for which reason I decided not to shoot it).

Hope you get your wish to curl up with your cookbooks!

Okay...

That duck disk is to die for, but the rib-eye is definitely worth a stop in purgatory!
