Aftertaste

I’m taking the rest of the week off. There’s a lot going on right now for me personally, and honestly, the events of this week have left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Back soon, I hope.

Will miss you!

I am a fellow Rhode Islander who loves your blog. I hope you don’t go away for too long and that everything is ok!

3 Anita August 20, 2008 at 9:54 am

Ditto that!

Have a relaxing sabbatical, and eat/drink lots of tasty stuff. Fingers crossed for you on the ‘a lot going on right now’ side of things.

I am a fellow New Englander who also loves your blog. Hang in there and know your daily inspiration will be missed!

Have a relaxing week! I just wanted to let you know that I love your blog. I subscribe to it via Google Reader so I’ve never commented, but I have a food blog too, and I know how much energy it takes to keep up and how frustrating it can be sometimes, so I just wanted to let you know you’ll be missed, and I look forward to your return.

Hang in there, Jennifer. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of unprincipled Schmucks like Mr. Mirabile. Short of sticking some kind of copyright watermark in you photos [which I personally find distracting and won't do], there’s not much one can do to protect against thievery. Except, of course, count on fellow bloggers to out the thieves, as happened for you. Hope you’re back soon, my friend.

I hope the salt and paprika are for rubbing into his wounds and not your own.

xxx

Being selfish, We hate the idea of not having your insight, creativity, and humor for even one day! We often joke about why we do not have neighbors who appreciate real food like you two do. If a break in Florida would help your situation; let us know we live on Longboat Key and have an empty private guesthouse. Hope you are back writing very soon!

We’ll miss you while you’re gone. Your blog is so often an inspiration for our meals around here.

Thank you for that. Sorry others can be so crappy.

Karma will get him in the end. Never fails.
Take care of yourself!

Long time reader, first time commenter. Wanted to echo everyone’s sentiments and say you’ll be missed during your hiatus (which will hopefully be very short).
Don’t let the craptastic actions of an unethical person chase you out of your house.
Take care.

Another long-time reader, first time commenter from Dublin, Ireland. I’ll miss your great photography and ideas. Hope to see you back soon.

I’ve read your blog from the first entry to the most recent and it infuriates me that this so-called chef is going around pirating other peoples hard work. So as a gesture to you and others whom he stole from I wrote him this delightful yet charming email. Please excuse all the French :)

Subject: I’m a HUGE fan of yours!

I lied. How about you quit being a fucker and stealing other people’s photos? Stealing others people’s hard work and pawning them off as your own is a cowardly and lowly act. Are you really that stupid to think the people won’t find out? I’m sure the bloggers are furious but the readers are equally as pissed off. You’re brilliant for trying to restrict your dumbass blog. I’m pretty sure it would’ve been flooded with hate mail such as this. Meatballs? Fuck off man. Everyone can make fucking meatballs. Your credibility as a chef is going into the shits. Who’s to say the plates of shit you push out of your kitchen at your beloved “Jasper’s” is the work of others? Why don’t you do us all a favor and go eat dirt and die? Geez man. Seriously. If you’re going to use other peoples stuff at least give credit. Salute the people who put in the time and effort to create those marvelous dishes you pass off as your own.

You think that stealing would offer you a small ray of success but it’s biting you in your big fat ass, man. The news of you is spreading: google yourself. Proof is in the pudding as they say. I consider people like you a waste of life. If you have any sense of pride and honor, I highly recommend that you send out a sincere apology to everyone for leading them on to believe you’re any sort of chef. Hang your honorable chef jacket up and call it a day. You’re done. NEXT!

That email is a small token of my appreciation to you and all the wonderfully talented food bloggers out there~ Come back soon!

Hope all gets better Jennifer! We understand!

15 Jenn August 22, 2008 at 7:30 pm

I think there is a way to make it so people can’t copy and paste your photos from the web, did he buy it THEN use it? Which so uncool either way.

I am a new reader but seriously love the photos as well as the written word. Don’t let one tool ruin your week, I’ll though I completely understand the need to take a breather.

I recommend cheese, bread, butter and wine stat!

A little something to cheer you up:

“Sorry, the blog at jaspermirabile.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.”

17 Deborah August 23, 2008 at 10:07 pm

I’m also a long-time reader, first time commenter. I love your blog – it’s such an inspiration! Please don’t let one bad apple spoil the fun for the rest of us!

18 Jennifer Mavronas August 24, 2008 at 12:26 pm

Hey Jen, it is your fellow IP-er from your former digs in New York. While I’m quite disappointed to see you have not been blogging due to the bad taste left by “el thiefo”, I offer a sincere toast to you for your integrity. You’ve got class, lady and New York’s loss is Providence’s gain….you can actually feel the grunge here since you’ve gone. All best and come back soon!

19 JoJo August 25, 2008 at 7:12 pm

I love your blog and hope you come back soon.

To Lisa, the commenter above: Wow, what a hateful thing to send to another person. Telling him to die? That he’s a waste of life? Ugh. Get a grip.

20 Allison August 26, 2008 at 1:30 pm

I just found your blog and I am hooked. Your pictures are amazing (also apparently theft worthy) and I am very inspired by your many food adventures.
I hope you return soon, and I hope your time off is refreshing.

21 Suzanne August 26, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I love your blog. Take care of yourself, regroup, relax and please come back!

22 Marie August 29, 2008 at 8:25 am

Time’s up, Jen :-)

23 Jim Kellett August 29, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I agree…..Time’s up..Come back!

24 simon August 29, 2008 at 8:12 pm

seriously… It’s not like he abducted your first born or anything.

25 Marie August 30, 2008 at 12:34 pm

Hmmm, if he had, Simon, we would all be making him into sausages round about now. Do you see yourself as a sausage, perhaps?
